One of my favorite questions to get: “Tiffany, which neighborhoods can I actually walk or bike to a trail from?” Because in Bend, that’s not a luxury — for a lot of buyers it’s the whole point. Here are the Westside spots that deliver, from a Realtor who’s walked these streets for 21 years.
For Phil’s Trail access: Discovery West
Discovery West has direct access to Phil’s Trail right from inside the neighborhood, which is borderline cheating if mountain biking is your thing. Shevlin Park is bikeable too. See Discovery West →
For Shevlin Park living: the Shevlin pockets & Talline
Shevlin Meadows, Shevlin West, Shevlin Crest, and the brand-new Talline all sit near Shevlin Park — roughly a thousand acres of trails along Tumalo Creek, with hiking, biking, and Nordic skiing in winter. If your ideal morning is coffee then trees, this is your zone. See Shevlin Meadows · Talline.
“Close to trails” gets used loosely in listings. Before you fall in love, I’ll tell you exactly what trail access means for that specific address.
For walk-to-everything: NW Crossing
NW Crossing isn’t a trailhead, but it’s the champ of walkability — coffee, dinner, the Saturday market, and an easy connection toward Shevlin Park and the westside trail network. Park the car on Friday and maybe don’t touch it till Monday. See NW Crossing →
A quick reality check
Some homes are a true walk-out; others are a five-minute drive that the listing rounds down. In Bend, that detail is worth real money and real morning-routine joy — so we check it for your specific address before you commit.
